February 11, 2008 Students will receive 10th grade course booklets and registration cards.
February 11-15 Students make appointments in guidance to have RD Anderson sign cards if student desires to take a class at RDA in grade 10.
February 18-19 RD Anderson representatives are in guidance to sign registration cards for those students who made appointments
February 21-Students turn in registration cards to CAVS teacher. Parent and student signatures MUST be on the cards for them to be processed.
February 26- Sophomore night in the arena at DHS at 7 pm . Parents and students will be able to ask questions of the faculty and staff at DHS. Tours will be available.

Offerings:

South Carolina Governor’s School for Science & Mathematics:
Information on the school’s summer program for rising 10th graders can be found in guidance. Three sessions are being offered this summer. Visit site www.scgssm.org/ssp for more details.

Papa John’s Path to Pizza Rewards-Teacher Appreciation Contest:
Students are to nominate a teacher by submitting an essay of less than 250 words. Essays should reflect how the teacher has had a positive impact on the student. Student of winning essay will receive a Papa John’s Pizza party for thirty and one year’s worth of Papa John’s Pizza. Winning teacher will receive a special plaque and one year’s worth of Papa John’s Pizza.
Deadline is March 14. Entry form and official rules can be found in Guidance.

The Junior Statesmen Foundation Summer Programs:
Programs and summer school are offered at Georgetown, Princeton, Yale and Stanford. Please go to www.jsa.org for complete information and costs. Remember if you wish to earn HS credit for any of these courses, you first must have the District’s approval.

Future Cavaliers Youth Baseball Clinic:

The Clinic will be held on Sunday, February 10th, at Sims Field. The cost is $20.00. If you do not pre-register, registration will be held from 12:30 to 1:30 and the Clinic will begin at 1:30 ending at 5:30. Pre-registration forms can be found in the main office.
